The Voice Behind the Music
Who I Am
Ryan Thurzo Gibson, known professionally as MadLadGibson, is a rock and metal artist, creator, and storyteller from the high desert of Apple Valley.
Raised with strong Hungarian cultural roots, his upbringing was shaped by a deep sense of heritage, identity, and creative expression. That foundation continues to influence both his life and his music.
His musical journey began early. Influenced by his father, a pianist, he started playing piano as a child. Around the age of 9 or 10, he picked up his first guitar—setting the course for a much broader musical path.
Over time, Ryan developed his abilities across multiple instruments, building a foundation rooted in rock and metal. His sound draws from the evolution of the genre—from the energy of the 1970s, through the defining tones of the 80s and 90s, into modern heavy music. Elements of nu metal, alternative metal, and progressive styles all shape his approach.
From vocals to stringed instruments, he taught himself not to be a jack of all trades, but to master them—driven to create the world and soundscape he envisioned, with music serving as both an outlet and a form of therapy.
Beyond the music, Ryan carries a deep connection to his heritage. As a descendant of the Thurzo lineage, his identity is tied not only to where he is, but where he comes from—a legacy that continues forward through both name and creation.
As MadLadGibson, he creates music that explores themes of truth, illusion, struggle, and transformation. Central to his work is the concept of the Lantern—a symbol of guidance, revelation, and the light that exposes what lies beneath the surface.
MadLadGibson is more than a name—it is an evolving expression of identity, history, and vision.
